Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 30, 2026Freelance Dog Walks (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a tool for tracking dog walks and sharing recaps with dog owners. We designed the app to keep your data in your hands. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
The short version
- We do not operate any servers, and we do not collect, receive, see, or sell your data.
- Your information stays on your device and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud account.
- Information only leaves your device when you choose to share a walk with an owner, using your own email or Messages.
- The app contains no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Information the app stores
All of the following is created by you and stored locally on your device (and synced to your private iCloud if enabled). It is never transmitted to us:
- Dog and owner details you enter: dog name, owner name, owner phone number, owner email, payment method, and cost per walk.
- Walk records: GPS route, distance, start/end times, notes, and any photos you attach.
- Your walker profile: your name, phone, email, and Venmo/PayPal usernames, used to sign the recaps you send and to build payment links.
Location
The app uses your device’s location to map each walk and measure its distance. With your permission, it continues recording your route while a walk is in progress even if the app is in the background or the screen is off. Location data is stored only as part of your walk records, on your device and in your private iCloud. It is never sent to us or to any third party.
Photos
If you attach photos to a walk, they are selected by you through the system photo picker and stored with that walk. The app does not access your photo library beyond the specific photos you choose.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for the app, your data syncs across your own devices through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) using your private iCloud database. This data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
Sharing a walk
When you choose to share a walk, the app prepares a summary — which may include the route map, photos, walk stats, your note, and your contact information — and hands it to your own Mail or Messages app for you to send to the owner. You control the recipient and can edit the message before sending. Recaps may also include a payment link (for example, Venmo or PayPal). Tapping such a link opens the relevant service; the app does not process, collect, or transmit any payment information, and any transaction happens entirely between you, the owner, and that service.
Third-party services
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit — optional syncing of your data to your private iCloud account.
- Apple MapKit — rendering maps of your walks.
- Venmo / PayPal — only if you or an owner taps a payment link you include in a recap. Those services have their own privacy policies.
The app does not integrate any advertising, analytics, or tracking services.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete dogs, walks, and photos at any time within the app, which removes them from your device and your iCloud. Uninstalling the app removes its local data from your device; data stored in your iCloud is managed through your Apple account settings.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
